Our Five-Year Old Foodie

Maeve.  She is so funny.  Today she told me she was hungry so, since I knew that her Momma had just fed her lunch, I offered her a snack bag her favorite potato chips.  She said: "No, Granny.  I need dinner.  Chips are not dinner."

As we were both looking (in vain) in my fridge for something that classified 'dinner' to Maeve, I finally said: "Maeve, don't you like food?"  Maeve: "I like a lot of food, Granny, just not the kind that you have."

Note to self: keep a supply of Maeve-favored foods in stock at all times!

You're Not Serious?

Our grandchildren know that they can pretty much get away with anything around us.  Well, at least not playing with matches or running with scissors - you know, dangerous stuff.  But in those rare moments when we do tell them, 'no', they look at us as if to say, "You're kidding, right?"

The other day, our grandboy, Ezra, jumped one too many times from the coffee table to my pillowed lap and I had to tell him, 'no'.  I wish I could have captured the expression on his face.  He simply could not believe that I actually said 'no' to him!

Then, tonight, we were babysitting Ryleigh and Xander.  Xander decided he had enough of his snack of rice cereal and dumped the bowl on the table.  The milk flowed onto the floor which prompted the dog to lap it up as the milk continued to flow onto her head.  While we were cleaning up the mess, Xander decided to pull flowers out of a vase.  Paul scolded him.  I scooped him up and took him upstairs to get him ready for bed when he then said to me:  "Pop-pop told me no.  Hahahaha."

And there you have it.  We're pushovers to our grandchildren.  Total pushovers.

New Grands!

This past year we added two more grandchildren to our family.  Reuel, 5, and Lemuel, 7.  They actually have been with us for a while in foster care and could hardly wait to make them 'official'!

Lemuel is a sweet, sensitive boy who is doing well in homeschool.  He loves Superheros and Beyblades (whatever they are!).

Reuel is a bundle of little boy energy and joy.  He loves puzzels and food!  He has the most irresistable smile, too!  Of course, all my grands have an irresistable smile to this Granny!

This Is What Happens When You Fall Asleep While Babysitting Your Grandchildren

Yes, that's my Hero, fast asleep while we were babysitting.  Our Amelie decided to "decorate" him with Ezra's cars.

Alexander Has Arrived!

He's big (weighing in at 8'14") healthy and beautiful! There's nothing quite like a newborn baby. A miracle! A life created by God! Thank you, Lord, for another precious miracle added to our family! Welcome Alexander! Granny loves you so!

Big sister, Ryleigh's first look at her new brother. Precious.

Ryleigh said: "I'm holding him!"

Pop, Granny and Alexander.

This is our eighth grandchild. Each precious little one is a miracle and a blessing to us and our family. As with Ryleigh, I had the privilege to watch Xander make his entrance into this world. My heart is so full of love, joy and thanksgiving that it takes my breath away.
Thank you, Lord, for this miracle of life.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

I love recording little snippets of the conversations I have with my grands because children have an uncanny knack to know and speak the truth. Plus, they're my grandbabies and everything they say is amazing - at least to me!

So here's a recent conversation with our two-year old grandgirl, Ryleigh.

We were looking at a puzzle game which included images of sports balls. I held up the soccer ball, and said:

Who plays with the soccer ball, Ryleigh?

Ryleigh: Daddy.

JerseyGranny: Does Granny play with the soccer ball?

Ryleigh: No.

JerseyGranny: What does Granny do?

Ryleigh: Plays with grandgirls.

Who knows her Granny!

Wild Weber-Girl!

While babysitting our 2 y.o. Ryleigh recently, her hair elastic fell out of her silky fine baby hair and when I asked her to come to me so I could fix it, she bolted!

We actually had great fun chasing each other around the house until I was finally able to catch her and tame her unruly hair but not before I got a few pics of our precious, little wild one!
